DAYTON LUPTON & THE NORTH GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS CLINCH THE FIRST NCCAA WORLD SERIES TITLE IN SCHOOL HISTORY…
Former Diamond Trojan Baseball Standout Dayton Lupton has enjoyed North Greenville University’s National Championship ride in Mason, Ohio. Dayton played 2nd base for Coach Greg Williams @ LCCHS from 2003-2006. Dayton was born in Brandon, FL., and He is the son of Tim and Shawnelle Lupton. He graduated from Lamar County Comprehensive High School in 2006. Lupton, a senior at North Greenville, has majored in Sports Management while attending North Greenville University.
Less than a week after defeating Southeastern University for the 2010 National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) South Regional Title, the North Greenville Baseball Team (41-14) traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio for the NCCAA World Series.
The North Greenville University Baseball team defeated Bluefield College 7-6 in a marathon 10-inning contest to earn the first National Championship in school history. The Crusaders plated the potential winning run in the eighth inning, but the Bluefield College Rams scored a run to tie the tilt at six a piece. Both teams were held scoreless in the ninth inning to send the game into the tenth. The Crusaders would, once again, take the lead in the top half of the 10th when a Crusader player scored on a Dayton Lupton single. The Crusaders held the Rams in the bottom half to clinch the national championship.

2012 Meet The Trojans Banquet

Darton College Head Coach Scott Hemmings
The 2012 editions of the Varsity, JV, & Middle School Trojan Baseball Teams were introduced on Sat., Feb. 4th, at THE GATHERING PLACE by Coach Greg Williams, Coach Dave McKenna, & Coach Ron Fletcher. Coach Mike Oberg was introduced as a new member of the Trojans Coaching Staff. And, The 2012 Diamond Girls were introduced during the evening by Janet Housley & Jodi Phillips. A Taco Dinner, Silent Auction, Door Prizes, & Guest Speaker was a part of the evening's festivities. Scott Hemmings - Darton College Head Baseball Coach - was the featured speaker for the event. The Middle School Team was recognized by their new head coach, Ron Fletcher. Fletcher is a Former Trojan Baseball Player that graduated from the LCCHS in 2006.
Coach Hemmings in his address to the Trojan Players , Parents , & the Audience-In-General focused on the things that it takes for a player to be a succesful at the high school, college, and pro levels of baseball. His emphasis to the players was to work hard everyday on improving their skills, to practice learning good manners, to develop a strong work ethic, & to do a good job in the classroom. Coach Hemmings also-reminded the parents, in attendance, to be supportive of their children in all of their athletic and educational endeavors.
His message to the players, who aspire to play baseball at the college and pro levels, was to be realistic in their expectations. While not encouraging the players to lower their expectations, Coach Hemmings pointed out that not all players are equipped to be Division-1, or professional baseball players.
Coach Hemmings touched on how a player should go about contacting him, if they are interested in playing at Darton College. The first thing for the prospective players to do would be to email the coach, while expressing their desire to be considered for a spot on the roster. The next thing to do would be to upload some video of themselves playing / working out for the coach to evaluate. At that point, if the coach thinks the prospective player has the necessary skills to play at a higher level, he will contact the player's coach in an attempt to schedule the player to come to the Darton Campus and work out with the team. Coach Hemmings did point out that he questions the player's high school coach about the player's grades, work ethic, attitude, & his character in general. He emphasized the fact that all of those things are important in getting further consideration.
Coach Hemmings ended the evening at the podium by sharing some funny stories about his playing days at ABAC with his former teammate -Coach Greg
Williams.
