Greg graduated from Abraham Baldwin College (ABAC) in 1997. While at ABAC, he started at shortstop and third base for Coach Craig Young, who is currently the Head Baseball Coach at Middle Georgia College in Cochran, Georgia. Coach Williams continued his baseball career when he signed to play for Coach Bill Haywood and Bryan McClain at Georgia Southwestern State University (GSSU) in Americus, GA. He was a starter in left field on back-to-back GAC Conference Championship Teams at GSSU from 1998-1999. Greg was a graduate assistant for the Hurricanes in 2000. In his senior year at GSSU, he had a .314 batting average with 12 homeruns, and 50 RBI's. His homerun total was second on the team that year. In the summer, prior to transferring from ABAC to GSSU, Coach Williams played for a semi-pro team out of Americus, known as the Canes. This team beat out Valdosta for the state of Georgia Interstate League Championship. After winning the state title, the team advanced to the World Congress of Baseball World Series in Wichita, Kansas. Greg earned his A.A. Degree in Education from ABAC in 1997, his B.S. Degree in Education from GSSU in 2000, and completed his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida. Coach Williams has a combined regular season record of 76 wins and 50 losses, in his 5 years at Lamar County. His 2006, senior-led, team raised the bar, and set a new standard of excellence for future Diamond Trojans. This group of seniors broke their own personal, and school, records for a single season by finishing at 21-5. And, they will leave the legacy of being the first team to ever host a State Playoff Game in Lamar County, while also being remembered as the first team to christen Aldora Field at the new Trojan Athletic Complex. During this five year span, the baseball team has advanced to the state playoffs three times ( '03, '05, & '06 ). During his tenure at Lamar County, Coach Williams has sent 4 players to the college ranks. Travis McCall '03 (West Georgia), Mike Oberg '04 (Emmanuel College), Dayton Lupton '06 (North Greenville University), Kyle Brown '06 (Emmanuel College). Coach Williams is married to the former Ashley Driggers of Tifton, Georgia. Ashley has completed her degree in Early Childhood Education from Valdosta State, and is currently teaching a third grade class(s) at the Lamar County Elementary School From The Top Trojan...
