'Reflections... Remembering The Senior Class Of 2006'
The Class Of '06 was stocked with a group of outstanding senior athletes, that will be remembered as the group, that set the standard(s) for all of the classes that will follow them... While they didn't capture a region championship -- finishing as the Region 4-AA Runner-Ups to the perennial Class-AA Juggernaut, that is The Pike Co. Pirates -- the Trojan Seniors did finish with an outstanding 21-5 record on the 2006 Season. All of them were outstanding players in their own right(s).
Several of them still hold individual & career records. Two of the top Pitchers to come thru the Trojans Program were Kyle Brown & Chad Andrews. Brown signed a scholarship to continue his pitching career with the Emmanuel College Lions, while Andrews still holds the individual & career records for Most Wins In A Season (9) & Career (16). Andrews, also, claims the record for the Most Ks In A Season with (83) & Ks In A Career with (155).
The '06-Bunch', also, had a roster that was composed of some senior players that could have been referred to, as 'The Lumber Co'. Seniors that assaulted the record books were Matt Dyal -- Most HRs In A Season (5) & Career (8), Kelly Piper -- Most Hits Career (92), RBIs Career (70), & Doubles Career (20), Ron Fletcher -- Most RBIs Season (30) & Triples Season (6), & Kyle Brown -- Slugging % Season (.714) & Doubles Season (11). All of the above pitching & hitting records still stand...
Defensively, the '06 Team was led by Senior-Shortstop, Hugh Strickland, whom many observers in the region loop considered as the top player at that position. Senior Outfielder, Logan Hooks, was a steady defensive-presence in Centerfield, and a good stick, offensively.
